“First of all thank you for the experience and exposure to this side of our profession. I came in with experience that was attained from a class taken in undergrad for athletic taping and the rest was from "on the go and learn as you go" while working with my high school's football team. No formal training and no one to really learn from or shadow. This class provided a foundation and framework I can refer to when providing services at different events with confidence. The class is informative, hands on, and practical. Dr. Ann is approachable and knowledgeable. In preparation for the class, there are modules that complement the hands on lab portion. Overall, a well organized course. If you're looking to work on sidelines or other sporting events with confidence, then look no further than this course.”

“Drs. Ann and Taylor did an amazing job teaching this course. It was exceptionally interactive and provided a glimpse into the physical therapist's role in emergency management for athletes. I felt the combination of evidence-based information and the instructors' personal experiences provided real-life application that improved the learner's experience. This course went above and beyond the requirements of an EMR course by including lessons in athletic taping (actual hands-on practice!) and lecture material specific to special populations including the female athlete, youth athletes, and para athletes. Dr. Ann even allowed me to bring in my wheelchair basketball chair to practice managing adaptive equipment in an emergency situation. As a physical therapist, I am much more confident in my ability to provide sideline coverage both as part of a sports medicine team or independently.”

“Had a blast learning from Dr. Ann this weekend on hands-on skills and techniques that could help athletes who sustain acute injuries or life-threatening emergencies. As a PT who works closely with dancers and athletes, I typically see patients in the clinic after they’ve suffered an injury - shoulder or patellar dislocation, concussion, ankle sprain, etc. However, PTs have the capacity to provide onsite care at events, like competitions, games, rehearsals/practices, and even auditions. While the course focused heavily on sports athletes, skills such as CPR, splints, slings, wound care, and lifts could easily be transferred over to clinical practice as well as everyday accidents. 10/10 would highly recommend. Thanks again to Dr. Ann and her team for a highly informative class!”

“Any hesitation I had regarding whether it'd be worth taking an EMR course immediately dissipated the moment I walked through the doors, and I saw Ann with supply kits on the ready. The online content prior to lab was thorough and primed my brain for the activities planned during live lab. The live lab itself was thoughtfully structured with plenty of hands-on practice, with clinical pearls/ tricks sprinkled in-between, and with a comprehensive practical at the end that left me feeling more confident. I couldn't recommend Ann's course more and am excited to apply my knowledge at the next live race! Thank you! ”

I used to volunteer at events thinking to myself that I was not prepared and now I feel better prepared to help and give back to my community. The self-learning was helpful leading up to the lab part of the course. Dr. Ann DeGrey easy to communicate with and responsive when I had trouble with my modules. Thank you. ”

Testimonials

“Ann is great! Explanations are clear and descriptive. She gives you the basic scenario to master and then challenges you with real on field scenarios you will experience.”

“What a great course! I highly recommend any medical profession to take this course. Ann was very insightful and thorough. ”

“This EMR course was relevant to physical therapist in the sport setting. Dr. Ann has the experience of working as medical staff in sport events with athletes at the highest level. She answered all of our questions and walked us through demonstrations of what to do to ensure the athletes' safety, from slings and taping to CPR/ED and spine boarding. I highly recommend this course to every PT who is covering any sporting event.”

“Ann did a great job in not only communicating her passions for the field, but also in preparing us for real life emergent situations. She did well in keeping the course light hearted and not "too dry.””

“I thought the online portion was very easy to listen to and pertinent. The lab portion matched up perfectly with it. I loved the lab portion-very effective and she answered all questions very clearly and competently. ”

“I've attended multiple EMR courses, all over the country, in the past and this was the first EMR course that presented content that was actually sport-specific with real-life circumstances. Ann did an amazing job in making the course material applicable for both novice & experienced clinicians working with a wide range of athletes. Ann's diverse experience in the sports medicine enabled her to field lots of questions ranging from best practices to professional liability and so forth. I would highly recommend this course for anyone interested in pursuing SCS certification or for clinicians who simply just want to feel more confident in their emergency medicine skills.”
